Heidenhain Incremental and Absolute Linear Scales

for TNC and high accuracy applications

cnc_linear

Linear encoders from HEIDENHAIN for numerically controlled machine tools can be used nearly everywhere. They are ideal for machines and other equipment whose feed axes are in a closed loop, such as milling machines, machining centres, boring machines, lathes and grinding machines. The beneficial dynamic behaviour of the linear encoders, their highly reliable traversing speed, and their acceleration in the direction of measurement make them ideal for use on highly-dynamic conventional axes as well as on direct drives.

Benefits:

  • Reduction of mechanical errors
  • HEIDENHAIN linear scales directly measure the position of the moving element and consequently reduce or eliminate errors caused by ball screw thermal expansion, hysteresis, and pitch errors.
  • Well defined thermal behaviour
  • HEIDENHAIN linear scales have defined coefficients of thermal expansion making it possible to select the linear encoder whose thermal behaviour is best suited to the application.
  • Excellent dynamic behaviour
  • Linear encoders from HEIDENHAIN are characterised by their high rigidity in the measuring direction. This is a very important prerequisite for high-quality path accuracies on a machine tool. In addition, the low mass of components moved contributes to their excellent dynamic behaviour.
